Today is Gracie's eighth birthday!! She doesn't look a day over four!
Happy Birthday to Kriskella's SunTrip T'First Base, MX MXJ
It is hard to imagine that she's eight years old. I say a similar thing on every birthday for each of our dogs. When a dog becomes an beloved member of the family and they are a part of everything we do, it feels like they've always been there. When I stop and think. . .Eight years. . .What was I doing back then, what have I done since, and what am I doing now? Gracie has been a part of it all.
She is my first Samoyed bitch. It took me a little while to figure her out. She has her own agenda, and it is a much different one than the boys. I'm really proud of what Grace and I have accomplished in agility. She and I have done things I didn't know we could do. She's taught me so much about training dogs, about what's important in competition, about the strength of the human-animal bond, and that it's OK to be a little bitchy, when that's how you really feel.
I have a lot of favorite agility photos of Gracie. Here's one of them, taken by
Denis Cornwell of
Ann Clayton Photographic Imaging.

In celebration of Gracie's birthday, the dogs got frozen yogurt tonight. It was fat-free, sugar-free frozen strawberry yogurt from
Marble Slab. Below, Gracie is checking out the goods.
