A Good Morning

Saturday afternoon, northern Nevada.

It's been a rough couple of weeks.  Bad stuff happens to good people, sometimes.  The fallout sometimes takes some time to sort itself out.  Last night I got some disappointing news. Not the end of the world or anything, but moving on now to Plan C.  I know everything will unfold how it is meant to unfold, and we'll all be just fine.

In the meantime, we have a big trial in August and nothing between now and then but training and practice.  My training partner and I sort of came to a game plan for our dogs independently, but as it turns out, we're on pretty much the same page.  Take the pressure off the dogs, work on trust and fundamentals.  Today's sheep were on my page, too.  They were more than happy to make Jane work harder if she wasn't right.  I kind of backed off and let her figure it out and feel the sheep for herself.  Now at age four, I think she is finally getting a slight appreciation for not using herself unnecessarily.

We had a really good morning.  All the dogs worked really well.  We went out for a burger and a beer afterward and had great conversation.  Thanks, Mary!  Good day!
